Latest NewsMay 17, 2006 TONY STEWART RACING ENTERPRISES SEEKS TOP FINISHES IN MOPAR ALL-STAR SHOWDOWNCenter Line, Mich. — Team Mopar’s USAC National Sprint and Midget Car Series contingent from Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises hopes to find the winner’s circle in this weekend’s Mopar All-Star Showdown at Concord Motorsports Park, with outstanding driving performances in both series. By entering three teams in both the USAC National Sprint and Midget Series portions of the event, the team will definitely increase its chances numerically. Josh Wise, Levi Jones and Kyle Nicholas will also look for a little luck to drive them to victory lane. Wise will lead the USAC National Sprint Car Series points battle into the event, which will be held May 21. With an 18-point lead, Wise expects to build on the No. 20 team’s momentum on Sunday. The event will mark the 2005 USAC National Midget Car Series champion’s first midget car event this season, after an accident sidelined him from the Copper World Classic in January. “I’m really looking forward to getting back into the midget this weekend,” Wise said. “We’ve tested some this season, and we’re confident that we’ll be contenders this weekend. I also think we’ll be able to make up some of the points we lost by missing Phoenix . We’re also focused on extending our USAC Sprint Series points lead. Consistency is the key to winning a championship, and we’re working to get some wins along the way as well.” Jones, the 2005 USAC National Sprint Car Series champion, will enter the Mopar All-Star Showdown looking to take the lead in the USAC National Sprint Car Series points chase. Only 23 points behind Wise, the No. 21 team seeks its second USAC event win this season. The event marks Jones’ second USAC National Midget Car Series start for Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises. “We’re going into the Concord event with the goal of finishing well and earning as many points as possible,” Jones said. “You always race to win, but consistency is what you have to have in order to win a championship. I’m also ready for the midget event. I learned a lot in Phoenix and I’m looking forward to competing on another big pavement track. We’re confident that we’ll be contenders for both the features.” Nicholas makes his first USAC National Midget Car Series start of the 2006 racing season in the Mopar All-Star Showdown. The half-mile facility will suit Nicholas’ style, as he’s seen considerable midget car success on larger tracks in the past two years. The No. 29 plans to earn its first USAC National Series victory at Concord Motorsport Park on Sunday.
